Since its inception in 1972 with a $50,000 donation, the Scripps Student Investment Fund has grown to over $600,000—an achievement made possible by the dedication of our members and their strong commitment to mentoring and training the next generation of fund leaders. Scripps SIF is one of the most unique learning experiences on campus, providing students with hands-on investment management experience that goes beyond traditional coursework.
The fund welcomes members from all backgrounds—no prior knowledge of investing or finance is required, allowing us to incorporate a wide range of perspectives that enrich our decision-making process. Today, our fund is uniquely composed of students from 13 distinct majors, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach that is central to our fund’s mission. Through mentorship from experienced fund members and insights from industry professionals, SIF members develop strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking through real-world portfolio management.
